Home inspections for new builds

Most people when buying an existing home will have a home inspection performed.  I highly recommend it as well as any other inspections for specific items that a homebuyer might be concerned about.  A home inspection for a new build can also be very advantageous.  We often feel that because something is ‘new,’ we don’t need to worry about it.  Doing so allows you to go back to the builder for fix-it items so that the house is near perfect when you buy it.  As well, the home inspection can tell you about the house in the areas you don’t normally see.

Clients that have done this have been very pleased with the results.  The home inspector clued them on to things that they could then have the builder fix right away.  In one case, the home inspector clued the home buyer in to the fact that the A/C unit was under-prescribed for the home.

I have more of a thread in the blog right after this one which is worth a read as it calls out in detail when the value of a home inspector can be big.
