The fact is that there are a few key factors to consider when buying a home in the Phoenix area or Valley of the Sun. These will help you narrow down where need to look for that next great home. Four areas to consider are:
Work
- Where will you and/or your spouse be working? A rule of thumb is don't give yourself a greater than 25 minute commute on a normal day here. The Valley is spread out. To go from Southeast Chandler to Northwest Glendale is a 50-mile trip! So, given the challenges that traffic can pose, don't overdo your commute if it can be avoided. It's not worth it.
Schools
- If schools are important to you, do your research for your particular needs. Maybe you have small children getting ready to attend school, or you are going back to school to get your Master's Degree. Make sure you understand if you have a particular need and concern when it comes to education here in the Phoenix area and Valley.
Family
- If you have relatives in the area, ask yourself if you have a desire or need to be near them. Often it's your place of employment that dictates where you might live first. However, some times, being close to family can be a primary concern.
Leisure
- What do you like to do in your spare time? This could be involvement with church or charities, running, golfing or other outdoor sports, theater, museums, etc. The list goes on and on here. If you expect to be in a certain part of town for many of your personal leisure time, maybe you want to live there as well.
